Tips and Tricks for Mental Health Awareness Week and beyond

This Mental Health Awareness Week, the focus is on community. Having a strong group of friends, family, or colleagues provides essential support to our well-being. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life, but taking a little time to connect with others can make a big difference to how you feel.

So, why not try incorporating some of these tips and tricks below into your week? And don’t forget we’ll be hosting a huge range of charities in the centre all week long too for you to chat with and seek advice.

Gather some friends and head to TK Maxx or Ryman for some craft supplies. Whether it’s painting, knitting, or making friendship bracelets, the act of creating something with your hands can be incredibly therapeutic. Sharing this experience with friends adds a wonderful social element, too. Why not host some friendly competition and see who creates the best design.

Pick up those iconic board games or card decks and invite some friends over (or family!). A board game night is a fantastic way to engage your mind, enjoy some friendly competition, and simply have fun together. Laughter and shared experiences are powerful mood boosters. You’ll find a range of games for all ages in-store at B&M

Sometimes, the best medicine is a good dose of comfort. Plan an evening dedicated to watching your favourite films or TV shows with friends or family. Don’t forget the essential ingredient: your favourite snacks! Allowing yourself to relax and enjoy these simple pleasures can help you unwind and de-stress. Stock up on snacks with B&M or treat yourself to delivery from one of our restaurants.

Looking for a fun way to get your body moving and release some endorphins? Head over to Putt and Play for a friendly game! Physical activity is a fantastic way to boost your serotonin levels, which play a key role in regulating mood and happiness. Plus, it’s a great, unique way to catch up with friends.

Sometimes, all it takes is a good conversation with a friend to lift your spirits. Arrange to meet a friend for a coffee at one of our lovely cafes. Taking the time to connect, share your thoughts, and listen to theirs can provide valuable support and a sense of belonging.

Remember, taking care of your mental wellbeing doesn’t have to involve grand gestures. Often, it’s the small, consistent actions that make the biggest difference. Use these tips and tricks as inspiration and plan your next get-together.
